The laser uses multiple wavelengths in order to effectively remove both black and grey and multi-colored tattoos. During treatment, the laser delivers pulses of light which break the tattoo pigment into tiny particles. The particles can then be removed by the body.
Laser tattoo removal with the Q-Switched Nd: YAG laser is typically well tolerated by patients. Most patients do not require anesthesia, though topical anesthesia is available if desired, or when more sensitive areas of the body are being treated. The sensation experienced during laser tattoo removal varies from patient to patient, but it has been compared to a rubber band snapping against the skin.
